During my interactions with the patient and the patient's family, I noticed that Qing went out of her way to be kind and show compassion towards a patient and family that other members of the healthcare team avoided.
I would like to recognize Qing Song for her unwavering dedication to making excellent patient care her top priority and always doing her work with a great attitude. I worked with her to take care of a number of patients over the past month, however, I was especially impressed by the caliber of care she delivered to one of our PHM patients on 3rd floor West Campus over the past several weeks. This patient was nothing short of a handful - requiring 1:1 sitter for behavioral outbursts, frequent medications through both her central line and G-tube line, the care, complex G tube feeds schedule, multiple enemas in addition to rectal tube administration throughout the day. Many of the nurses became quickly fatigued by this patient and told the provider team it was impossible to follow through on all the orders we had placed. However, not Qing. She took care of everything without a single complaint ever and as a result, we have been able to establish a regimen the patient and can go home on. During my interactions with the patient and the patient's family, I noticed that Qing went out of her way to be kind and show compassion towards a patient and family that other members of the healthcare team avoided and were dismissive of. Because of her kindness towards the patient, the patient, in turn, trusted her and she was able to work as an effective clinician. I (as well as other providers on the PHM team this month) was truly impressed by Qing's professionalism and inspired by her ethic to remain relentlessly and positive through a challenging patient. She continues to show compassion through any situation and always puts her patients first.
