Quyen's engagement has encouraged staff and peers to connect with each other more and have the confidence to have necessary difficult conversations.
Quyen Nguyen has filled the Clinical Adult Services Director role on an interim basis for more than a year. A role in which she has wholeheartedly owned. Quyen includes all Patient Care Services Nursing staff, patient care staff, as well as ancillary services in discussions to continually improve quality patient care and to make the Central Valley the best place to work, which has built increased trust across entities and increased collaborative communication. This collaboration and inclusion have proven to be a value in many areas including the kick-off of the Adult Service Line Committee, where all stakeholders including physicians, hospital leadership, and staff, feel inspired and comfortable in bringing actionable solutions to hospital workflows, quality improvement, and at the same time promoting a One KP environment so that all contributors are confident in speaking up, feel that everyone is on the same team and that there are no entity divisions, we are all here for the same purpose.
Quyen drives for her own growth as well as her staff. She recently completed ANCC Nurse Executive Certification and actively encourages her staff to pursue higher education and accredited certification programs. Quyen has been a driving force behind video visits with loved ones, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and even more so now that families are not able to visit their sick loved ones in the hospital. Her compassion for people in need and those suffering goes beyond measure, she is truly the epitome of what a nurse should be, loving, compassionate and kind, and her patients and staff acknowledge that. She has been pivotal in improving throughput by continued relationship building with the Continuity of Care Director and team. The Continuity of Care Director gave Quyen kudos recently on her collaboration and engagement and stated this was not the case prior to Quyen becoming the interim Director. Quyen's engagement has encouraged staff and peers to connect with each other more and have the confidence to have necessary difficult conversations with respect and with a team attitude. Quyen Implemented Ketamine and Lidocaine infusion as alternative multi-modal therapy to enhance patient pain control after surgery with front-line nurse champion engagement, which improved patient satisfaction. Implemented Enhanced Recovery Medicine Pathway collaboration with multidisciplinary team members to improve the recovery experience for our medical patients. Quyen encourages her staff, peers, and leadership to go beyond clinical care to care for patients. She made it possible for a hospitalized patient to attend his wife's funeral.
