Rachael is devoted to giving the best care to her patients in a kind, gentle manner.
I was admitted with a kidney stone but have a history of medical issues. In fact, 3 years ago I was on this floor with endocarditis. I wish Rachael Garcia had been one of my nurses during that time. I’ve been in and out of hospitals for surgeries, etc., for years and know good nursing when I see it. Rachael is devoted to giving the best care to her patients in a kind, gentle manner. She is very responsive to requests and willing to answer the questions at hand. If she isn’t sure she would go and check and come back with the answer. Details and answers are what we are looking for, not some line from a textbook that is meaningless to us. It also helped that she could provide her experience of kidney stones so there was empathy as well. Rachael is also willing and able to modify treatment to the patient. For example, the automatic BP cuffs do not work on me, so she was able to get the BP with a manual cuff. Most nurses just give up or are not willing to do that. Nursing is to help the patient not have the patient conform to a standard check list that might or might not work. Rachael understands that and was able to pivot so the standard of care was still met while working with me. She is to be commended for her nursing skills and TMCA needs to hire more Rachael's’. Start a trend so that the nurses are helping, not excluding their patients. Rachael is an example of what nursing is about. She is willing to put in the extra time and effort into shift changes as well to make sure her patients are well cared for. Rachael rocks, and should be thanked by not only me but the entire hospital staff!
