May 2026 Honoree
Rachael Goff, RN
My mother had a very rapid decline in her health over the weeks which affected her mental state. She was very confused. Rachael knew that I missed hearing from the hospitalist during rounds and was able to keep me updated with labs and results. She kept me informed of her condition and changes.
All of my siblings were from out of town and had many concerns. I know this is normal for nurses, but I felt Rachael could see my emotional state and gave us extra attention on some very busy nights. Rachael also was there to hear one of my mother's conversations where she thought she was dying and telling her what she wanted me to finish.
Rachael passed this information on to me and comforted me. She is asked if I was going to be ok. Her extra compassion was what I needed at that time. Nurses are naturally compassionate, but I understand how busy they are. I just want to acknowledge how outstanding she was.
Thank you Rachael for going above and beyond.
