It was important to my wife to have a VBAC. So our doctor discussed all possibilities and scenarios, answered questions, and game planned with us. As things progressed, it became clear that something was causing the baby stress during contractions. We watched the heart monitor during each contraction as her heart rate plummeted. Of course, we were worried and confused. We'd look at the door in these moments and Rachael, right on queue, would enter and start turning my wife, and talking us through everything, putting us at ease while making us feel like our concerns were her concerns and that the doctor was on top of everything. She listened as we discussed the use of Pitocin and offered great input and information before the complications arose. Rachael's personality shone and greatly took the edge off of a stressful situation. After the C-section was ultimately performed, she was with us, still guiding, comforting, and providing care and information with humor and an attentive ear. Without a doubt, Rachael's impact on this experience was nothing short of fate.
