I have had the pleasure of working with Rachael Taylor for most of my time here as a surgeon at SRF. From the moment I first worked with her I was impressed by her extensive knowledge base and attention to detail. She also is incredibly caring and thoughtful towards all of her patients and has a great knack for putting people at ease when they are in an understandably anxiety provoking situation being in an operating room. She will never hesitate to address a patient's questions or concerns despite the often busy environment of the operating room. She also shows this same caring nature to all of the people with whom she works.
One thing that is immediately obvious when working with Rachael is that quality and safety are top priorities for her and I have never seen her waver in making sure that the highest level of care is delivered. This means that she is never hesitant to stand up for patient safety and quality under any circumstance. This can put her in difficult situations where she must disagree with other members of the surgical team. However, she is able to do this in such a good natured and thoughtful manner so that people will not take offense but rather will inevitably be convinced of what is best for the patient and deliver the most appropriate care.
She additionally has an uncanny knack for being able to predict potential issues and pitfalls of a surgical case and is then able to do an amazing job at minimizing any potential stumbling blocks. She is able to organize and oversee surgical cases so efficiently that operations that she oversees are done seamlessly and efficiently better than with any nurse I have ever worked with anywhere. She is a tremendous asset to the operating room, the facility and our patients. She is one of the most caring and compassionate nurses with whom I have had the honor to work. I cannot think of any nurse more deserving of a DAISY Award than Rachael Taylor.
