I came to realize that Rachael was more than a floor nurse. She was a friend, answering all of my questions and concerns.
When the administration decided to open up the 2nd floor in our wing, Rachael was transferred to handle that floor. This change resulted in many sad moments among all residents of East 2AL. However, Rachael visits all the time, whenever she can. She even assists in the dining area when the dining staff is short of people. In short, she is the ideal (and beyond) nurse that any caring institute can have.

I am very proud to know and to nominate Rachael for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. I had lived by myself for over 9 years, and I was leery about going to a senior living assisted living facility. On my first day here at St. Paul's, I managed to lock myself out of the building. I had no idea that the key I had was not going to let me into the building. It was the Nurses Call Button, and I pushed it many times, trying to get it to work in the fob, but I got nowhere. Colleague Rachael came to my rescue! She came to the outside door and helped me and my family out. I didn't know at the time, but Rachael was the head floor nurse on East 3 Assisted Living.

After a few days at St. Paul's, I came to realize that Rachael was more than a floor nurse. She was a friend, answering all of my questions and concerns. She showed me things like how to shred sensitive documents, how to arrange maintenance repairs and other miscellaneous tidbits. She not only helped me but was available to all residents on our floor (roughly 30 people). She normally worked the day shift, but she willingly worked a double shift as needed many times during my first 9 months at St. Paul's, and it seemed like she never went home to her family.
