During a group given by Melissa, she demonstrated clinical knowledge about eustress and coping skills that were beyond the average nurse’s understanding. The connection she made through her compassion to patients and myself was outstanding and has motivated many of us to shift our actions to those skills we found novel and/or helpful in the past. Melissa affected my desire to focus more intently on myself and my stay on the unit. She was never too busy to answer my questions. She was nice, had a great attitude toward all, and superseded expectations. The special connection she made with me will last a very long time, and I’ll be sure to recommend VA care to my veteran friends.
