After a very difficult repair surgery on my mother, Rachel was assigned for her continued care. Rachel was caring, compassionate, and knew how to do her job and how to do it well. When my mother’s pressures dropped dangerously low and a rapid response team was being considered, Rachel remained cool, calm, and collected, and provided outstanding care. With 6 people around my mother’s bed, Rachel remained patient-centered and calm. After, Rachel provided emotional support to mom. As a health provider myself in an ER, we train our workers to be great in their field but at times find it challenging to teach empathy. Rachel, however, encompasses what every healthcare worker should strive for.
