Rachel is a strong advocate for patient safety and enjoys teaching in both roles.
Rachel Bulthuis began her nursing career in 1990 at Advocate Children’s Hospital (ACH), where she worked in the NICU for 27 years. During that time, she went on to complete her BSN, and a few years later, her MSN. In her current role at ACH she is a Discharge Coordinator/Educator for the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Rachel began her teaching career as a pediatric adjunct clinical instructor for baccalaureate students at UIC in the spring of 2020. Rachel is a strong advocate for patient safety and enjoys teaching in both roles, where she is preparing patients for a successful transition home after open-heart surgery, as well as preparing and equipping nursing students for a successful nursing career.
