The first night I was admitted was terrifying. I had no idea when I left my home that day that I would not be returning. My condition being urgent, I had been unofficially prepared for surgery the same night.
Upon introduction to Rachel, my fears were put to ease. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm immediately made me feel I was safe. Her medical care was always quick and efficient, but her approach to not just body, but mind and spirit, is where she truly rises to the top.
From bringing me a worry stone, to holding my hand, to late-night conversations when fear and loneliness were at their peak, Rachel was there through it all.
A leader, a healer, and a much-needed light in the darkness, I will never forget her dedication and spirit during some very dark times.
