Rachel is our hospital nurse, and the employees are her patients. I was involved in a work-related injury, which was a medical emergency. It was the most painful experience I have ever had, so much so that I could not think properly about the paperwork part of my healthcare.

In the past, here at Sovah and at other hospitals, the Hospital Nurse advocated for the hospital, not me. Not Rachel, she took over and did for me what I could not do for myself. She called me regularly with genuine concern and checked on me regularly. She handled the workers' compensation process and truly worked in my best interest. I was not just another employee with an injury, but I was her patient whom she cared for like family.

Sovah prides itself on our family motto, and she lived it. I am important to her, and she made this horrible experience one that I will always be thankful for. She cared for me and advocated for me when I could not do these things for myself. That is what an exceptional nurse does. She made me feel loved and cared for, just like family. Rachel has made a difference in my life and will always get tears of gratitude whenever I think of what she did for me.
