I was admitted to AGH for a kidney transplant. My wife was also admitted for a kidney donation. The first day after the transplant, I was cared for by Rachel Gill, PDP. The level of care provided by Ms. Gill exceeded my expectations. She was compassionate and extremely attentive and responsive to my every need that first day during my recovery process.
Throughout my life, I have been surrounded by great nurses, including my own mother, mother-in-law, and daughter just to name a few. I know a "good nurse" when I meet one! My daughter was at my side and the first day of recovery. Before she left to return home that night, she said to me: "Dad, you are lucky. You have a very good nurse caring for you!"
My wife was also recovering on the same floor. Ms. Gill made a number of visits to her room to check on her condition and report back to me on her recovery. She also, according to my wife, offered to care for her needs as well whenever she checked in on her. If that doesn't meet the WOW factor, what does?
I had many good nurses care for me during my week-long stay at AGH. None of them, however, matched the level of compassion, skill and genuine care provided by Ms. Gill. She obviously loves her profession and is a true DAISY Nurse.
