Rachel was instrumental in getting my patient the blood transfusion she needed. The patient was resistant initially but was not doing well after surgery. It was approximately 11:00 pm when Rachel started working, she met with the patient several times overnight, taking extra time to counsel her and being vigilant to ensure her vital signs remained stable. In any other instance, I may have come into the hospital to monitor the patient myself, but Rachel's clinical acumen, her excellent communication skills, and her extremely knowledgeable science base, allowed me to stay at home and monitor the patient from my bed, not a call room. I trusted Rachel with my patient's life, it was easy with her. Ultimately about 4:00 am the patient received her transfusion and did quite well. The nurses at St. Mary's are all so good, but Rachel went above and beyond to ensure this patient got the best care. She is awesome. Thank you so much!
