Rachel is one of the most caring, hard workers we have. Not only does she float to any unit we ask, but she is also always picking up days or helping with tasks. Most recently though, I witnessed her living out our service standards with a dying patient. He was not assigned as her patient. She was assigned a whole other hall. The patient had no family and was rapidly declining. Since his nurse was busy and had other urgent things to tend to, she stopped what she was doing to go and sit and hold the man's hand. I walked by the door and saw her. I asked what she was doing, and she told me she couldn't let him pass alone and was afraid he would. She spent the rest of the day scheduling her nursing tasks around other people to assure this man always had someone with him. She truly touched my heart that day, just going above and beyond for him. We are blessed to have her.
