Rachel Hughes 2, RN

Rachel Hughes is a true DAISY Nurse due to her commitment to patient care and her support of our shared values of Ownership, Compassion, and Excellence. Rachel always gets patient recognition during NLR, she has patients that will discharge, and when readmitted to the hospital they remember her name and the great care she delivers.

I have seen this displayed on multiple occasions, for example, today one of her patients told her his reading glasses were knocked off his bedside table last night and broke, he was very upset about not being able to see now. She went to the gift shop and purchased him another pair.

Also, on Sunday one of her patients had a Birthday; Rachel wanted to surprise her because she had been depressed and get her some flowers from the gift shop but, the gift shop was closed on Sunday. When she worked again the next day she went to the gift shop and purchased some flowers and had her and 4 other team members surprise the patient by singing Happy Birthday and giving her the flowers.

She is looked at by her peers as a leader and a resource for new staff to come to. We are very happy to have her as part of the team on our unit and at our facility.
