I have worked with Rachel for over 20 years at STHS. She has always been an outstanding role model for me as well as countless other nurses and students with her calm, caring demeanor. Rachel has always displayed a genuine concern for her inpatients as well as outpatients. She has stayed late at work many extra hours for many years to make sure every patient’s needs were met. But it is what Rachel does outside of the hospital that truly makes her special. She has gone to patients’ homes on her own time to check on patients who contacted her with concerns or were afraid. She will go and continue to educate, assist and offer reassurance. Most patients, and especially families, consider Rachel to be a part of their extended family and have even notified her of a loved one’s passing so she could attend funeral services. Her patients and their families truly love Rachel and she loves them. She has also helped my family members who were home with wounds or surgical sites that I was maintaining by coming over and assessing them and offering her expertise. Her education and credentials are impressive – RN, BSN, CWOCN, CFCN. Rachel is a compassionate nurse whose care does not stop when her shift is over. She is a genuine true example of what a nurse was meant to be. She has trained many students and nurses and has been a crucial role in the growth of our WOC Department. Rachel is the most extraordinary nurse I have ever worked with.
