Rachel never hesitated to show empathy and compassion.
When I arrived at the ER Rachel was the nurse who met me at the entrance with another nurse and a wheelchair. She was sweet, thoughtful, and compassionate from the first moment. She went over to my family member's car to make sure they had proper directions on where to park if they were going to wait for me to be discharged. I have had a handful of traumatic experiences at emergency rooms over the years especially revolving around pelvic pain. I disclosed this with Rachel and the fact that I had some pretty severe anxiety in general and that I didn't want to be there despite my obvious need for care. She helped to ground me and keep me from complete panic for most of the night. Rachel made sure to check and double-check my consent for all things throughout the night down to when I was crying she asked whether it was better to stay or leave. She stayed with me throughout my ultrasound and CT scan even holding my hand when I asked. Rachel never hesitated to show empathy and compassion. The fact that she didn't get exasperated even when she was transferring me to be admitted and I wasn't fully capable of being compliant due to being in the middle of a full panic attack shows her level of professionalism. Rachel is truly a nurse I will never forget. Her level of empathy and support allowed me to gain access to the level of care I genuinely needed, and it has made the world of difference to me. Y'all are fortunate to have her on staff with you. Thank you.
