Rachel Madsen BSN, RN, is a great asset to West 10. She is a preceptor, relief charge nurse, patient advocate and all around great nurse. She remains calm and collected in the most difficult situations. She frequently cares for some of our unit's more difficult patients, and is able to provide extraordinary care while advocating for the needs of the patient and providing emotional support for them as well as their families.
Rachel is frequently recognized as someone who goes above and beyond for her patients. One family stated, "Rachel is an exceptional nurse. She always has patient needs at the forefront. She is a strong advocate for those in her care; we never had to ask twice for anything. Rachel has a great personality that is kind, caring and fun." Not only do patients and families appreciate Rachel's dedication and experience, but coworkers do as well.
Rachel has been a preceptor for many years, working with new staff as well as nursing students. She does a wonderful job helping new staff develop critical thinking skills while teaching about our patient population. She is very knowledgeable and thorough and remains a resource to help answer questions and assist with difficult situations for not only new staff but experienced staff as well.
