February 2021 Honoree
rachel mauro, RN, BSN
I had had Rachel 2 nights in a row during my first stay with AML. I was having a lot of pain on my scalp and my hair was falling out. I hadn't been able to shower in several days. The floor was short due to winter weather conditions.
Rachel came in at bedtime and offered me a shower cap, hair wash, and massage. After debating, I decided to let her shave my head. She turned the lights down and played my favorite music on her phone. As I cried, she sat with me face-to-face and made sure I was okay.
I will never forget her compassion. I have been blessed with the best nurse here!

Thank you, Rachel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
