Rachel occasionally works the unit as a floor nurse, but is also a charge nurse most of the time. From the moment the night shift arrives until she leaves. She models what it means to be a nurse, a leader, and a colleague. She treats every staff member with respect for us as individuals and our roles. She freely shares her knowledge, and if she does not know (which is rare), she finds the answer and explains it to whoever asked. She is compassionate and kind to our patients, their families, and anyone who comes to our unit, whether visitor or employee. She is the unsung hero of our team, and I feel she deserves to be seen and recognized for how valuable she is to us.
