I am a seriously ill patient and have been in the hospital for 8 weeks.
My daughter was getting married and the weeks up to the event were very emotional as I feared I wouldn't be able to attend her special day. My daughter shared the same feelings too.
Just the day before the happy occasion I realised I wasn't well enough to attend my daughter's forthcoming marriage.
Rachel stepped in having spoken with my daughter for a blessing to be held at the hospital so that I could witness and be a part of her wedding day. Rachel organised a Chaplin to attend to do the blessing of the rings ceremony.
The hospital ward was decorated beautifully, all the patients and nurses participated, and I was dressed in my Mother of the bride outfit.
My daughter and her new husband arrived with her dad walking down the aisle that they had made at the hospital. I stood up (for the first time in weeks) and kissed my daughter, not a dry eye was in sight.
The ceremony began and I truly felt a part of their marriage in fact the atmosphere was so happy and emotional. I couldn't have been more included or happy at actually being there.
I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part, even getting a cake (a lovely touch).
Rach, I can't believe what you put together. In just one day you not only organised a blessing but a lifetime of memories that I will always treasure and no amount of thank you will ever be enough. My whole family thanks you. You gave us a day I never thought possible, you didn't just go the extra mile, more like a marathon. You are a DAISY Nurse for making a difference not only to my life but my whole family. We will remember your kindness for years to come.
Thank you, it meant the world.
