Rachel Peddicord, BSN, RN

Every minute Rachel is on the unit she is observed to be kind, patient, and considerate to visitors, families, and her counterparts. On one particular night, these behaviors were exemplified when an autistic young adult male was brought into our facility by police after a violent altercation at home. The patient was noted to be physically and emotionally upset on arrival, but staff also noticed the patient was disheveled, unkempt, and soiled which was likely due to sensory issues from his autism. Rachel was able to encourage and assist this young man with getting into the shower to bathe himself and change into clean clothes. Security stood by, but with Rachel's sweet and calm demeanor, this process went without incident. After showering, the patient also allowed Rachel to draw blood and administer medications ordered by the doctor. This is just one example of many where Rachel provides extraordinary and compassionate care to our patients.
