My 72-year-old mother came into the hospital with complications of her liver where they found a tumor blocking it, causing jaundice on top of having cancer and going through treatments. Rachel is by far a blessing to my family and me. I've never met someone so deserving of this. She was the sweetest nurse ever. Not only did she take care of my mother so well, but she took care of my dad and me. She sat on my mama’s bedside and prayed for her. Being a nurse is definitely her calling; she was made for this. My son, my mother's grandson, was stationed in Missouri and needed to come home because it wasn't looking good for mom. I'm a hot mess mama at this point and worried about his plane ride. Rachel took it upon herself to update me on his plane ride from her phone and sent it to my phone. She took care of all of us. Before her shift ended, she came to spend some time with us and told me before she left that I had her number. If anything happened to Mama to let her know. She had gotten so close to Mama that on days when my mom wasn’t as responsive, as soon as Rachel walked through the door and said, "Ms. L", Mom would open her eyes or find a way to respond to Rachel. To sum it all up, Rachel is by far heaven-sent and is so deserving of this DAISY Award. WE love Rachel and would do anything for her, as she would for us. She made our experience the best we have ever had. WE were truly blessed to have her!
