Rachel Roy, RN
Recently, our family faced the overwhelming experience of having both of our parents admitted to the hospital with serious diagnoses. During one of the most difficult times in our lives, Rachel was truly an angel to us. She took the time to explain complex medical information in a way that was clear, compassionate, and reassuring-something that truly requires not just clinical knowledge, but a nurse's heart.
She sat with my sister-in-law for over an hour, offering comfort, answering questions, and gently guiding us through very difficult conversations with patience and kindness. Rachel understood that our family was not just coping with one critically ill parent, but two, and she met us with empathy every step of the way.
Even after discharge, when new questions and concerns arose, Rachel made sure we knew we were not alone. She told us we could call her anytime. When uncertainty set in, instead of feeling lost, my sister-in-law immediately said, "She told us to call her,' and that is exactly what we did. once again, she guided us in the right direction and brough us peace of mind.
Some may say this is simply her job, but what she gave our family went far beyond duty. She didn't have to spend that much time with us. She didn't have to make herself available over the weekend. But she chose to. She chose compassion. She chose advocacy. She chose to care deeply.
Rachel embodies what it truly means to be a nurse and an advocate. Mercy is incredibly fortunate to have someone with her skill, grace, and heart on their team. Our family will always be grateful for the comfort and support she provided when we needed it most.
