Rachel Rubley fits the bill of an extraordinary nurse who provides extraordinary care to all of her patients. Recently, I had to pleasure of speaking to a patient of Rachel's. The patient informed me that she was regularly seen in the emergency department because of her chronic health issues. On this particular day, Rachel was her nurse. The patient raved about the care that she received. The patient told me that for the first time, she did not feel judged and that Rachel was the nicest nurse that had ever taken care of her. The patient felt like Rachel really took the time to listen to her concerns and acted on them in a timely manner. The care that Rachel provided had impacted the patient's views on her care in the ED for the better. The patient was adamant about acknowledging Rachel for a job well done. Fortunately for our staff and patients, Rachel treats everyone with caring and respect and is able to remain calm under the most stressful of situations. I would like for Rachel to know how much she is appreciated, that she sets a positive example for others to follow and that her efforts do not go unnoticed.
