During one of the most difficult and frightening moments of my life, Rachel became far more than just someone providing medical care. She became a source of comfort, reassurance, advocacy, and genuine human kindness when I needed it most.

After undergoing major surgery and facing unexpected complications, there were moments where I felt overwhelmed physically and emotionally. What stood out most was not only her clinical skill and professionalism, but the way she consistently treated me like a person - not just a patient in a room.

She noticed the small things. She took the time to explain what was happening in ways that made me feel less afraid. She advocated for my pain control, checked on me when she didn't have to, and showed compassion not only to me, but also to my partner, who was carrying so much stress throughout my hospitalization.

There are certain healthcare professionals you remember because they did their job well. And then there are the rare ones you remember because they changed the way you experienced one of the hardest moments of your life. She did that for me.

Her kindness, calm presence, empathy, and dedication made an unbearable situation feel survivable. I will genuinely never forget the care I received from her, and I cannot think of someone more deserving of recognition through the DAISY Award.

Thank you, Rachel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
