Rachel is a valued and trusted resource within the Tasmanian Health Service South. The IPCU has been significantly impacted by the pandemic but, despite this, has continued to maintain strong workplace relationships with units and services. This is only possible due to the dedication and leadership qualities displayed by our NUM, Rachel. She has been a key staff member in the management of COVID-19 patients throughout the pandemic and has been a critical resource.

Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, Rachel has been a leading innovator in the development of Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines that reflect up-to-date and relevant research. These Guidelines are completed in collaboration with the IPCU Medical Advisor and ID Physician. Rachel has been an influential leader of the IPCU team, and her experience and advice to the THS are incredibly valuable. Rachel has ensured all COVID-19-related guidelines were updated regularly throughout the pandemic to ensure that staff working across all areas are provided with the most appropriate and safe information and that best practices are maintained. The provision of this guidance ensures that both patients and staff are kept as safe as possible through risk mitigation strategies, including the implementation of a minimum PPE framework across all THS sites.

Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, Rachel has shown impeccable teamwork, commitment and sheer courage supporting the staff, patients and visitors at RHH through a historically difficult period of healthcare. Countless hours of overtime shifts filled with contact tracing, creating protocols and guidelines throughout the pandemic account for the dedication of this wonderful NUM.

Recognition of her dedication and service through a DAISY Award seems like the most appropriate action to thank her for all she has done.
