Rachel Walker has been an dedicated nurse at CMC-Lincoln for 20 years. Her caring and compassionate way she cares for her patients inspires me to be an outstanding nurse like her.

Recently I watched Rachel get a post op patient who did not want to get up out of bed and walk him down the hall. The entire time she was walking with the patient she was educating him on the advantages of ambulating after surgery. On many occasions I have been in a patient's room with Rachel as she is educating her patient. I love the way she keeps her patients informed about their care. She has excellent bedside manners while making sure the the patient is doing everything they can to speed up the recovery time. She helps to keep them from getting bed sores or pneumonia by turning the patient every two hours or instructing them on using their incentive spirometer.

Rachel is an excellent preceptor and role model as she brings great expertise to new nurses. New grads and seasoned nurses look up to her because she models the correct way to perform nursing procedures. When new policies are put in place, Rachel always encourages others to comply.
