My daughter was admitted to have her appendix removed. When the doctor told us she had to have her appendix removed, my daughter was terrified. Two years ago, my daughter had a friend who was only 13 (the same age as my daughter) pass away from a bad appendix so my daughter has been traumatized ever since. After we got my daughter comfortable, Rachelle took me on a walk to show me where things were. I told Rachelle about my daughter’s friend and that my daughter was terrified of this surgery because of what had happened. She thanked me for telling her this so she could do anything she could to make my daughter feel more comfortable and at ease. She took the time to print off papers about the procedure and talked it through with her and answered all my daughter's questions and concerns. She is the kindest and most patient nurse and we are so grateful for everything she did for my daughter. She made sure my daughter’s dad and I were always taken care of as well. She made this scary situation a lot easier for all of us to deal with, but especially for my daughter. Thank you for having this amazing woman at this hospital for these kids. She was born to do this job.
