Every time I meet with Rae she exhibits all the characteristics of a DAISY Nurse! As an ostomy patient, I have developed a very special connection with her. I trust her decisions. She has always been emotionally supportive of me and my family. Her caring, compassion, and thoughtfulness is part of who Rae is. When I had a family emergency she was quick to get back to me and reschedule my appointment. She follows up to see how I am doing, returns phone calls promptly and manages my care in a professional manner. Rae is always energetic and passionate about her work.
Recently my cardiologist told me that I needed to go to the ER right away. I had an appointment scheduled with Rae that afternoon and decided to see Rae first and then go to the ER. Soon after the admitting desk called Rae I saw her running down the hall to me! She said that in no uncertain terms that I was to go to the ER immediately! She put me in a wheelchair and quickly pushed me to the ER! She said she would do the procedure in the ER and for me not to worry! It turned out it was not my heart, just painful kidney stones. However, she did not want to take any chances and had my health concerns as a top priority.
She listens both her heart and her ears and clearly wants the best medical care for me. She also shows my husband and me how to care for my ostomy. She is well-loved by the staff at St. Joseph's and her patients as well. Rae has a wonderful bedside manner and a keen sense of humor. Every time I tell a nurse that Rae is my ostomy nurse they smile and tell me she is wonderful. I heartily agree!
Your hospital is blessed to have this professional, competent, outstanding and caring nurse on your staff. Rae Peng deserves this DAISY Award!
