Rae Sylvester, RN
On Tuesday, my mom’s nurse Rae Sylvester was a blessing. She was my rock and treated me and my mom like we were family. She was so kind and compassionate, gentle, and calming. Just her voice alone was so calm. She displayed hope, caring, empathy, and compassion to me and my mom.
I was on the phone and I asked her to tell my mother some things. Rae said, “Hold on, I think you should tell her.” She took the phone into the room and held it to my mom’s ear so she could talk and she could hear my voice. It meant so much to me. As I hung up, I realized that the phone didn’t hang up completely. I listened to Rae continue to speak calmly and gently to my mom. I was so glad she was here for her final day. She was my rock. I’m glad I got a chance to meet her in person and I’m glad she cared for my mom.
