Ramanjit was the first nurse I met when I was admitted to Ward 22. However, she shortly returned simply to hold my hand and ask how I was, as I had just received a cancer diagnosis. I was on Ward 22 for just over 2 weeks and even when Ramanjit was not in my section, and I was not her patient, she would always call in to see how I was. I was unable to eat and could only really tolerate Fortisip drinks. There was little choice of flavours in my section of the ward, so Ramanjit especially tracked down the flavour I preferred, and cold from the fridge too! When I was eventually moved to Ward 35, Oncology, Ramanjit still took time on her breaks or at the end of her shift to visit me to see how I was, which is over and above what anyone could expect from a busy nurse. It also goes without saying that she was an excellent nurse, and I felt very safe in her care. She was very attentive and always performed all her nursing duties professionally and efficiently. But it was especially taking the time to come and see me when it was not ‘her job’ that meant so much to me. Ramanjit is a lovely person, an excellent nurse, and incredibly kind, and made me feel special and cared for. I wish her all the very best in her career, and I am sure she will flourish.

Thank you, Ramanjit, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
