I would like to recognize and thank Ramon Gambino for the exceptional care he provided to my uncle, who suffered third-degree burns to his arms, neck, and shoulders and underwent surgery for skin grafts. From the very beginning, Ramon demonstrated compassion, patience, and professionalism in every interaction. Ramon performed my uncle’s wound care daily with great attention to detail and empathy. He always made sure my uncle was comfortable, explaining each step of the process — what he was doing, why, and what to expect next. Because my uncle does not speak English, Ramon went above and beyond by communicating with him in Spanish. That small but meaningful effort made a world of difference. It helped my uncle feel understood, respected, and safe during such a painful and vulnerable time. Ramon also took time out of his busy day to teach me how to properly care for my uncle’s wounds at home. He was incredibly patient and thorough, making sure I felt confident and capable before we were discharged. He never made me feel rushed and took the time to answer every question I had with kindness and understanding. Ramon’s compassion, dedication, and genuine care not only helped my uncle heal physically but also brought comfort to our entire family. He truly represents what nursing is all about — skill, empathy, and heart. We will always be grateful for the care and support he provided during one of the most difficult times in our lives.
