Ramon’s compassion helped my father endure some of the hardest days of his life (my father is a Holocaust survivor), comforting and reassuring him.
My father was brought to Aventura Hospital on New Year’s Eve in advanced-stage heart failure. Following a week-long stay in ICU, he was subsequently brought to this unit. From the day he arrived on this unit, Ramon’s extraordinary care, skill, and compassion were a constant. There were a series of very challenging days and this nurse ensured (and a few times aided) coordination between a multitude of Specialists and proactively identified issues meriting special attention and action.
Ramon’s compassion helped my father endure some of the hardest days of his life (my father is a Holocaust survivor), comforting and reassuring him. This nurse went above and beyond to ensure transitions between shifts went smoothly and special needs were highlighted to ameliorate my father’s suffering and distress. He looked for ways to distract my father from his pain and anguish all the witnessed through a long three weeks under his care, was truly extraordinary He kept us both fully informed, brought us good spirits, and even came to visit my father on his day off out of pure concern for his emotional wellbeing. My family and I believe strongly that the skills and values of this nurse merit this recognition.
