Rana spoke to each family member in a soft calming voice with empathy and compassion.
Rana is a nursing graduate with only several months’ experience as an RN but has already shown remarkable compassion, caring, and empathy for her patients and their loved ones. She has a kind, caring, and empathetic nature, and always strives to do her very best for her patients and families.
Recently, Rana went above and beyond and handled a challenging delicate situation with poise and compassion. The family of her patient had made a decision for their loved one to be transitioned to the Hospice Unit and be compassionately removed from the ventilator. The multiple family members had some requests prior to the transition, which as a team we were able to accommodate. Rana prioritized her care that morning to ensure her patient was ready to receive her visitors at a pre-scheduled time. Rana spoke to each family member in a soft calming voice with empathy and compassion. At the family’s request, Rana went into the room with the Sheikh and spent time in prayer at the bedside. She coordinated with the Hospice unit, the doctor, and the family to ensure the transition was smooth and to the family’s expectation. Multiple family members told me that Rana was a wonderful nurse, warm, compassionate, and caring. Rana accompanied her patient and the family to the Hospice Unit and spent a few extra moments with the family during this difficult time.
