I'm a 62-year-old female Vet with a list of issues too long to write, but I've been acknowledged and cared for since the moment I moved here. I truly feel blessed knowing that Nurse Randy is there for me. It makes a difference whether I even show up for an appointment. I have severe anxiety about leaving the house, and he has helped me not only with appointments at the VA, but also with others I would have otherwise canceled due to overwhelming fears of leaving my home. 

He gives me strength. He is very attentive and has the ability to make you feel like you are the only Veteran who has ever lived. He is simply amazing. Every appointment or visit to the VA has been beyond my expectations and a positive experience when Randy is involved. Believe me, there's one person there who truly needs recognition. If I become distraught because of another situation or person, I can go to Randy and get recentered. 

Recently, I was in a situation where I was dealing with something serious for over a month. For some reason, instead of calling for a consult and having surgery, the ER just referred me out, which meant continued blood loss. Finally, I got that consult, but the doctor could not continue without an EKG, Labs, and a chest X-ray. Once again, Randy stepped up and guided me as if he were leading people out of a storm to safety. He took the reins and led the way. I did not have to wait days for each record; he compiled them for me and sent messages when they were ready.

Every time I popped up with a different issue, he came from the back and addressed it. Just when we thought things were all set and began to regain some peace of mind, the doctor's scheduler said I needed a letter from my primary care provider giving me permission to have the surgery. My first thought was, why didn't I get this info when I got to the other doctor? Signatures can take 10 days or more. I wasn't going to make it another 10 days. Between the physical pain, non-stop blood loss for over 30 days, and now my mental state, added to this situation, has really taken a toll on me.

To make matters worse, the receptionist knew exactly what I was talking about and printed the paperwork within minutes. Yet again, Randy got it done, and without neglecting his other patients. Because of him, I was able to regain peace of mind. 

Another important point is that I'm not good with technology, but with his help, I was able to use the message board, and he responded in an unbelievably timely manner. That was simply phenomenal for me. His selflessness meant the world to me because I feel alone most of the time. Many people don't know this because I always show up with a smile, ready to help others and make sure their needs are met.

So please understand that Randy's spirit goes far beyond the walls of the VA Clinic. It's contagious in the most positive way because of him; I'm able to make it just one more day.

Kudos to Nurse Randy: his smile, amazingly kind heart, gentle soul, miracle worker, and spirit uplifter. The world could use more people like him. He makes appointments run smoothly, takes fears away, and makes you feel like grandma's warm blanket has wrapped around you.
