Randi Hall, at the Manderson Cancer Center, is an RN in the infusion room. Randi should be chosen for the DAISY Award due to the extraordinary care that she not only displays on a daily basis to our patients but the example below will show how she goes above and beyond caring for patients. It takes heart to do the job and she went the extra mile for the patient.
One of our elderly female cancer patients had a procedure this week in another department which didn't finish until after 5pm. Her normal means of transportation is the Tuscaloosa Transit Van but they ended pick up at 5pm. This patient had called Radio Taxi to pick her up and for some reason they never came even after calling several times. Randi was leaving work at 6:45pm and the patient was still waiting to be picked up. Randi went above and beyond and took this patient home and got her something to eat on the way home. Randi displays this kind of compassion when caring for her patients.
