June 2012 Honoree
randolph sevilla, RN, BSN
I would like to nominate Randolph for the DAISY Award. I have witnessed on more than one occasion Randolph display sincere compassion towards our patients and their family members.
Randolph builds a strong rapport with the patients and their families especially when the patients are passing away in our unit. He has spent hours educating and talking to the family members during this difficult time. Randolph is also a great team member and always has a positive attitude.
One occasion in particular really touched me. A patient was going to be terminally weaned. Randolph washed the patient’s hair and made sure the patient looked his best "because he was going to meet his maker". This deed exemplified such respect for the patient and assisted the patient with maintaining his dignity. This was going the extra mile. Randolph is the nurse I would want my loved ones to have.
