Randy was my husband's nurse for two days in critical care after he was admitted. He was the first nurse to make me, as the patient's wife, feel that my opinion in the care of my husband mattered and was valued. He asked me about my concerns; made sure to tell me results of routine tests, worked to make my husband as comfortable as possible, all the while continuing care of his other patient and his duties as charge nurse. He listened to my concerns and did a step further by also addressing those concerns or finding someone else who could. His care was superior and his compassion unmeasurable.
