Randy Linsmeyer, FN

A patient was brought into the Emergency Department with a family member. The patient and the family members' conditions were worsened because they were living in their car. Early in the patient's visit, Randy made it clear that he cared about their situation, and while he wasn't their assigned nurse, he went out of his way to comfort them. He took it upon himself to help clean, clothe, and talk to the patient's family member, who broke down in tears as she believed she didn't deserve the care. Randy stuck by that family member, consoling and assuring them that they did deserve his care and compassion, even telling a story about how they reminded him of his grandparents. That night, Randy truly exemplified what it means to be a Mayo Clinic nurse.
