Without hesitation, Randy rolled up his sleeves and worked every day throughout the storm to help those in need, triaging, prioritizing emergency cases, and bringing in patients from other surrounding hospitals that had no room or shelter from Hurricane Ian.
Randy is the definition of a compassionate and selfless nurse who always prioritizes patient care and goes above and beyond with a smile on his face. His smile can be seen and felt across a room by patients and team members alike. During the devasting Hurricane Ian, Randy scrambled to find a safe place to store his RV so he could rush back to the hospital and work tirelessly through the horrific hurricane. He never left the hospital or complained about being tired. His duty was to serve each and every patient.

Without hesitation, Randy rolled up his sleeves and worked every day throughout the storm to help those in need, triaging, prioritizing emergency cases, and bringing in patients from other surrounding hospitals that had no room or shelter from Hurricane Ian. Sadly, Randy's RV was destroyed and he was left without a home. Nonetheless, Randy found a solution and continued to work day in and day out to make sure the hospital was never understaffed and that no patient went without excellent care. Randy has a profound impact on every patient that he touches and every person whom he works with. His commitment and level of care are steadfast no matter what Randy faces. With 42 years of nursing experience, Randy has seen it all and his ability to serve the community never wavers.

***

From the Director of Surgical Services: Randy has been wonderful. He is kind and easygoing and is always willing to help anywhere. He rode out hurricane Ian with us here and even though he had his own personal losses from the storm he never faltered in joining us in helping this community and always has a positive attitude. Even though surgery can be very unnerving for many people, he is always calming and friendly with his patients and quickly puts them at ease.
