Randy’s impact extends far beyond the metrics. He is a compassionate and empathetic leader who listens attentively to his team’s concerns and actively works to address them.
I am writing to enthusiastically nominate Randy Rogers for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Randy has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities since joining our team in October 2023, and his impact has been nothing short of remarkable.
Randy possesses an incredible ability to build and inspire his team, fostering an environment of collaboration, trust, and excellence. Under his leadership, our team has achieved outstanding results, consistently exceeding metrics and setting new standards for performance.
Some of Randy’s notable achievements included:
Exceptional Team Growth: Randy has overseen an unprecedented expansion of our team, increasing FTEs from 15.4 to 26.5, including the conversion of three agency RNs to core.
Drastic Reduction in Vacancy Rate: Through Randy’s strategic initiatives and relentless dedication, our department's vacancy rate has decreased from 37.65% to 16.93%, enhancing our ability to deliver quality care.
Significant Decrease in Turnover: Randy’s commitment to creating a supportive and empowering work environment has led to a substantial reduction in voluntary turnover, from 41.54% to 26.58%.
Bathing: Randy commitment to delivering quality safe patient care has moved 3D’s bathing of Central Line patients from 75.2% up to 93.1%, with the month of March being 100%. Overall, treatment bathing has also improved from 67.7% to 79.2%.
Coworker Engagement: 3D has had 100% coworker participation in the last two consecutive Voice of the Coworker Surveys. This ensures our coworkers' voices are heard and shows their engagement in continuous improvement.
Randy’s leadership style is characterized by a bias for action, fearlessness in trying new approaches, and unwavering commitment to our Mercy mission and values. His passion for innovation and excellence has been particularly evident in his willingness to step into the role of the manager of Mercy Springfield's new “Innovation Unit.” I have no doubt as we kick of this important work, Randy will push boundaries and inspire his team to reach new heights helping to pave the way for the future of healthcare and care deliverly at Mercy.
Furthermore, Randy’s impact extends far beyond the metrics. He is a compassionate and empathetic leader who listens attentively to his team’s concerns and actively works to address them. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from our most recent coworker survey is a testament to Randy’s dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment where every team member feels valued and heard.
