I came in for a huge surgery and thought I was prepared mentally and physically for it. I realized after surgery that there was no way I could ever prepare myself for this life change. I felt sad, angry, hopeless, out of control, and all around defeated. I was pushing everyone away and not accepting anyone to help me. Ranee Tozer changed that.
Ranee took me under her gracious wings and treated me as her own. She took the time to help me at my own pace. Whether that help was getting me out of bed or sitting in silence with me while holding my hand. Ranee didn't give up on me. Every single day she came in with a smile on her face, a positive attitude, and a full heart. I could not have done this and made the progress I did without her.
Not only did Ranee help me as a patient, but she did the same for my family. She explained things, she took the time to comfort them and she allowed my mom to feel safe while she was away. Ranee is not only an incredible nurse, but she is also just an incredible person. This was my 12th surgery and I can confidently say that Ranee was by far the best, most caring nurse I have ever had care for me. Froedtert is more than lucky to have her and she truly deserves the DAISY Award and beyond.

In addition to the words my daughter has spoken, I would like to extend my gratefulness and appreciation to Ranee. As stated, she truly did allow my daughter to process through this life change and guided her into the independence she needs to proceed on with her life. Ranee assured me my daughter was safe and being cared for, so I could leave for short intervals and to sleep at a hotel at night. An amazing nurse, human being, and blessing are words that describe Ranee and make her more than deserving of the DAISY Award.
