Rani has been part of the University Hospital (UH) family since 2006, and her kind, caring and compassionate nature have not wavered in the sixteen years that she has been employed at UH. Rani exhibits all of the characteristics of a true healthcare professional.
Rani came to the United States from India in 2004, to further her education. When asked why UH? Rani replied, "I wanted to work in a hospital that is multicultural. I want to extend my services to a diverse population, providing care to multicultural patients, their families, my peers, and all of the healthcare teams."
Rani consistently provides quality nursing care and an unparalleled patient experience with efficiency, paying special attention to regulatory requirements and evidenced-based outcomes. Currently pursuing a Family Health Practitioner education, her AACN certifications, extensive ICU background, and years of training and teaching, give her the knowledge and critical thinking to excel as a professional nurse.
Rani is a highly skilled health care professional and a team player as well. She is often seen asking peers and/or co-workers if they need assistance without having to be asked. She is a role model, mentor, preceptor, and friend to her peers. Representing the staff on the Nursing Steering Committee she brings her insight of patient-centered care. As a Super User for the Electronic Health Record, she is able to communicate and directly help staff enhance their technical abilities as healthcare leaders.
Rani is also very intelligent. She is fluent four languages, which has been an asset to the patients and their families. Rani, always with a smile on her face, without hesitation, is always willing to assist as an interpreter when needed.
Rani has been recognized with letters of appreciation, from patients and families as well as being mentioned consistentlyin patient surveys for excellence. Rani lives the Mission, Vision, and Values of University Hospital. If you ask her, she will tell you that her main objective is her total commitment to her patients, the hospital, and the medical staff, with only one goal of achieving excellence for every patient.
In addition, Rani reaches out to the community working with her children's ministry. Each month she works with her co-workers and friends packing and distributing lunches to people living on the streets.
We want to recognize and thank, Rani Thomas for her skillful, compassionate care and for being an extraordinary nurse.
