Ranika always had a calming word, and gentle touch, and a positive position.
While it is difficult to single out one outstanding nurse among the many who cared for me during my week-long stay at the hospital, Ranika certainly was one whose compassion and care were stellar. She was KIND-so important, CARING-so needed, and very PROFESSIONAL-so hoped for. My wife, who stayed with me during my hospital ordeal, noticed many other patients who were suffering similar apprehensions and discomforts at being in the hospital. Ranika made us feel like our issues were her first priority. That was a feat in and of itself as she and the rest of the staff were being pulled in countless directions.
Ranika always had a calming word, and gentle touch, and a positive position. At one point I held her arm and said ‘I spoke to the hospital administration and called your boyfriend and they both said it would be all right if you came home with me.’ She and my wife had a good laugh as once again a pleasant mood was shared in a difficult environment. While I was in much pain, faced numerous obstacles toward my recovery, and my wife and I suffered from the hospital regimen of much-interrupted sleep, Ranika's humankindness was as good of medicine as the one which was being pumped into me. I was lucky and thankful to have had her assigned to me.
