Our stay with you resulted from a terrifying experience, no one could ever be prepared for; one the Burn unit has seen many times before. Our story is an unfortunate one as they all are for many in this unit's care. The Burn unit staff deserves much praise for many moments that kept the patient and family hopeful, educated, and much appreciated - directness when necessary. Your patience was impeccable, your care memorable.
One nurse however remains our most memorable for an outstanding representation of her profession. After a patient procedure pitfall, Raquel helped restore our confidence with extreme patience and care; many times going above and beyond to explain processes, medications, and burn care. She remained steadfast during difficult times but did so in a gentle but professional manner. Most of all, she made the patient and family confident about departure by ensuring we had the tools and education to continue the healing process. Dignity is the most powerful thing you can offer a person during their most vulnerable moments. Raquel remained committed to keeping mine intact.
