I had my yearly physical at Duke Primary Care in Durham. Following my physical, my provider said I would be scheduled for an appointment to have a Wellness visit with the Wellness Nurse. In just a few minutes, Rashida Holliday, the Wellness nurse, came into my waiting room with the biggest smile on her face and said that she did not want me to have to drive an hour back to Raleigh for my Wellness visit. She had shuffled her schedule to make the visit more convenient for me. I was so impressed by her concern and her thoughtfulness.

She began to ask me questions in a kind manner which put me in a calm and relaxed setting. Her demeanor gave me a sense of confidence and trust in her as a caregiver and as a person. She set the tone for a productive visit by listening to me and truly focusing on my concerns and offering help in any way that she could. I taught early elementary school for 31 years and I can sense a person of compassion who leads with her heart. I felt as though I had always known her.

Rashida has been blessed with a personality that shouts positive vibes to uplift her patients. Teachers and nurses are of a kindred spirit. I am so glad to have met her and she has given me such great hope for our future generation through her genuine spirit and the role model she presents for nurses leading with the heart.
