Raven was caring for a very sick patient on the MICU for several days. She built a rapport with the patient and her family. At shift change, Raven remained in the room because the patient was rapidly declining. A code blue was called, and she stayed until midnight because the family was unable to get there any sooner.

Raven comforted and consoled the family when they arrived, providing a thorough explanation of the events that occurred. With the help of a coworker, they were able to print heartbeats, place them into bottles, and made handprints with paint for all the patient’s children who were ages 0-18.

Raven presented the family with something small to remember their mother by. Raven was so respectful, thoughtful, and caring of the family when they arrived. She went above and beyond to try and make the best of an awful situation.

Raven demonstrated what it means to be an Extraordinary Nurse to her patients as well as her unit. The MICU should be proud to have her on the team!
