February 2026 Honoree
Raven Jones, RN, BSN
My mom had an emergency surgery. She did not get to an ICU bed till after 8 pm. When we first arrived at NCU, we were greeted by Raven, who introduced herself to us as her nurse. My Mom speaks English but struggles with medical terminology.
From the moment we met Raven, she made sure that my mom was her priority. She asked questions about her ostomy and made sure she was informed. One particular thing that stuck out to my dad and I was that she asked us our names and since then she greets us every time she sees us on the floor. We had the pleasure of having Raven for two nights, and those two nights were amazing.
I appreciate her knowledge, her compassion, and her interest in my mom's care. Even when my mom wasn't her patient, Raven saw that her morphine pump was out of medication and tried to get the nurse's attention. She's a quick thinker and always thinks one or two steps ahead.
